The Benfica winger, playing tonight against the Azzurri, is liked by Bologna and Lazio: in his country, however, he is at the center of a court case for having shared an intimate video with minors. The ruling is expected next Wednesday
Norway’s arrival in Milan could allow us to see one of the most talked about names of this period up close. This is Andreas Schjelderup of Benfica, a left winger born in 2004. The winger is currently at the center of both transfer rumors and an annoying case.
Italy follows him
—
Let’s start with the market rumors. In January 2023, Benfica purchased him from Nordsjaelland for a sum of around 10 million. A complicated impact with Portuguese football led him to return to his club of origin on loan and then return to Lisbon in June 2024. This season he made only one appearance as a starter in the Champions League and inconsistent use in the league. A goal and an assist in the Portuguese Serie A cannot be enough for a talent like him. And so the January transfer window that is approaching offers an interesting opportunity to Italian teams. Left winger, therefore a player suited to a certain type of football. Bologna have been making moves on him for a few weeks, thanks to a first-rate scouting team, and Lazio, which however remains in a hybrid position given that they will have to wait for the green light to move on the market. So be careful of Schjelderup who could find the land of relaunch in Italy. And at San Siro against the Azzurri he could play after the 70 minutes played against Estonia.

the case

In addition, it should be remembered that a case opened around Andreas off the pitch. At the time of Nordsjaelland the player shared an intimate video with a friend on Snapchat with minors involved. A scandal. But both in Lisbon and in the Norwegian Football Federation there was no marginalization of the player, but rather a general defense while underlining the mistake. “It was a stupid youthful mistake” – admitted Schjelderup himself who was 19 years old at the time. “He did something really stupid” – commented the Norwegian coach Stale Solbakken. On Wednesday 19th the court will decide on the sentence that will be imposed on him: the risk is of a sentence with a suspended sanction and a financial fine.
