Johan Derksen is not very enthusiastic about Rafael van der Vaart as a table guest in Today Inside. The TV mustache thinks that the former footballer cannot really participate in the conversation. “Except when it comes to the ball.”

Rafael van der Vaart was in Today Inside this week to promote his book, but if it were up to Johan Derksen it would remain with that one appearance. Wilfred Genee asks the opinion maker in the yesterday’s broadcast his opinion about the actions of Sylvie Meis’ ex: “How did you think Rafael? Should he come back or do you say…”

‘Can’t join in the conversation’

Well, no, according to Johan. “I think Rafael is a very nice boy. I have always thought so, but in terms of content, if it is not about a ball, I am not impressed.”

Wilfred then: “Yes, I think he’s rap, I think he’s fast, I also think he’s funny.”

Johan: “Yes, he is a very nice boy with good charisma…”

René van der Gijp: “I watched that documentary this afternoon about his father at that caravan camp and so on, but he is a very nice boy. But so is Sneijder, I think. Also a very open, nice, sociable guy.”

Slum

Johan also thinks both gentlemen have remained very down-to-earth. “You name them, but Rafael is not ashamed that he comes from a trailer park and Sneijder is not ashamed that he comes from that slum. Those boys have remained themselves.”

René: “Yes, they are great guys.”

Wilfred: “But also down the earth.”

Table guest Tina Nijkamp: “I thought it was a really nice broadcast.”

Very neat

Tina points out how discreet Rafael always is about his divorce from Sylvie. “He is always very polite about it, while I think he could tell quite a lot of stories, but he doesn’t. I think that is very nice of him. He is just very authentic. Just like Wesley: they are not ashamed of anything.”

Johan, whose daughter is the publisher of Rafael’s book, concludes: “I heard from my daughter that they will strategically look at which program such a person can join, but there was no discussion with him about it at all. He wanted to go here and not to another talk show. He felt at home here.”
