Sold for 10 million to Bruges last summer, the Nerazzurri gem is constantly monitored by the Inter management. There were two buyback clauses that Marotta and Ausilio had imposed last July

Against Barcelona in the Champions League he looked like he was in his own backyard: fully at ease, aggressive, valuable, at times even dominant over a giant like the Blaugrana midfielder Frenkie de Jong. But it is certainly not the first time that Aleksandar Stankovic, the youngest of Dejan’s three children, has taken center stage. Last year – his first among professionals – he experienced a season as an absolute protagonist in Switzerland, making 40 appearances for Lucerne, and this year (definitely in less time) he has already managed to surpass himself. Thanks to his and Inter’s summer choice: another year away from Milan, a guaranteed capital gain – sold for 10 million – and an almost predictable return to base. Because from next July 1st the Nerazzurri club will be able to freely choose to buy back Stankovic Jr by shelling out 23 million euros. Practically, he would pay Bruges a large player development bonus which in total would amount to 13 million. Not only that: if Inter decided to leave Aleks in Belgium also in the following season, they could always bring him back to Milan in the summer of 2027, but for 25 million (-15). That’s why you’re likely to decide to do it early and save yourself a couple of “free” millions.

as pious

The company’s plan, therefore, is clear: go, grow for a couple of years, come back. And possibly you get Inter. Exactly as Pio Esposito did in his two-year period at La Spezia, exactly as Stankovic jr is doing between Lucerne and Bruges. Thus the operation to reduce the average age would continue in a big way, furthermore strengthening a group of boys who in Inter (of Chivu, although not all) have grown from the Primavera team to conquer the first team: Dimarco, Pio Esposito, almost certainly Aleksandar Stankovic and hypothetically also Valentin Carboni. And the return of the Bruges midfielder would be very convenient not only for matters of the heart (and lists), but also of the pitch: at the end of the season the position of Calhanoglu will have to be re-evaluated, who after the discontent of last summer has remained and has also found enthusiasm again, but who knows whether the desire for Turkey may manifest itself again. And Stankovic, in his role, does exactly what Calha does. Deki Jr’s super performances have turned the spotlight on Tottenham and Newcastle, who at least for the moment can remain there, on standby. Whatever happens, for Inter, it will be a success: both in the case of a return and in the case of a permanent transfer. Weight in gold.
