As a ZDF expert, Jürgen Klopp thrilled TV viewers for years. Next year he will be celebrating his return – for another station.

Jürgen Klopp will be working as an expert for MagentaTV at the 2026 World Cup. Telekom CEO Rodrigo Diehl announced this in the “Kicker” interview. The broadcaster had previously signed Thomas Müller. “In addition to Thomas Müller, Jürgen Klopp is also part of our team of experts. He stands for pure football and is a world coach who has written incredible success stories with Dortmund and Liverpool. With him and Thomas Müller, we already have two top experts on board,” explained Diehl.

For Klopp it is a comeback in this role. From 2005 to 2008 he was an expert for ZDF and, together with presenter Johannes B. Kerner and referee Urs Meier, analyzed, among other things, the German national team’s games at the 2006 World Cup and the 2008 European Championship.

With his tactical knowledge and his talent for conveying this knowledge to television viewers in simple words, Klopp knew how to inspire. After the European Championships, however, he fully focused on his new job as head coach of Borussia Dortmund and returned to RTL for the 2010 World Cup, at the time alongside Günther Jauch. Klopp is currently employed as “Global Head of Soccer” at Red Bull and has a contract with the beverage company until the end of 2029.

It is still unclear whether Klopp and Müller will be seen together. “That depends heavily on the draw on December 5th in Washington,” said Telekom boss Diehl in “Kicker”. But he is sure: “If Thomas Müller and Jürgen Klopp actually stand in front of the camera together, the whole of football Germany will listen particularly closely.”
