Jannik, already certain of first place in the group, will face the Australian on Saturday, beaten 12 times out of 12. Alcaraz will face Zverev or Auger-Aliassime. All the details
Carlos Alcaraz’s victory against Lorenzo Musetti certified the Spaniard’s position at the end of 2025: he will certainly be no.1, however he ends up in Turin. At the same time, Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the semifinals was also made official: on Saturday the Italian will face Alex De Minaur, who already seemed doomed after the defeat against Musetti on the second day of the round robin. Jannik has beaten the Australian (the first to qualify for the semifinals of the Finals with only one round robin victory since Nishikori in 2016) 12 times out of 12. And, despite still having to play the last match of the group, he is already certain of first place in the Bjorn Borg group.
the scenario
—
Sinner will challenge Ben Shelton, who has already been eliminated, on Friday 14 November at 2pm in the last match of the group. In the evening session Alexander Zverev will face Felix Auger-Aliassime to determine Alcaraz’s challenger in the other semi-final. The positions are already defined because whoever wins between the German and the Canadian would get two victories. Quota at which Jannik already is, and at which he would remain even in the event of a defeat against Shelton. Therefore there would be two players with a 2-1 record in that eventuality, and in the Finals the first criterion in such situations (with only two tennis players on equal terms) is that of direct clashes. Which rewards Sinner against both Zverev and Auger-Aliassime, both beaten in two sets. Jannik can therefore already look forward to the semi-final on Saturday.
the program
—
This is the schedule for Saturday’s semi-finals: at 2.30pm Sinner-De Minaur, at 8.30pm Alcaraz against Auger-Aliassime or Zverev. The doubles semi-final between Olelli/Vavassori and Heliovaara/Patten or Arevalo/Pavic will be played at 12.
