THEFentanyl is part of the opioids, substances that act on the nervous system to reduce the perception of pain. It is a synthetic product created for therapeutic purposes: it is in fact used during surgical operations and in the treatment of chronic or cancer pain. It is therefore essential as an analgesic and anesthetic drug.
In addition to medical use, however, it has been spreading for some years as a drug of abuse, that is, as a substance taken to obtain psychoactive effects, both sedative and exciting, with very serious consequences: Fentanyl is in fact up to a hundred times more toxic than heroin and morphine and creates a rapid and powerful addiction.
In the USA, the misuse of Fentanyl has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. In some cities it has spread rapidly, so much so that there is talk of a real epidemic. It costs little and can be purchased, illegally, even online, because it is simple to produce, and is sold in doses that contain other substances.
