The Roosendaal police won a game of hide and seek on Wednesday. Officers found two people in an empty apartment after the housing association reported that people would be staying inside. When police arrived, the two tried to hide, without success.
Several police officers went to the apartment to see what was going on in the house. “We surrounded the building and could see from the outside that people were inside,” the Roosendaal police wrote on Instagram. When the officers shouted inside that they were there, the two people quickly tried to hide.
After permission from the assistant public prosecutor, the police forced the door and entered. There they found two people who had no business being there. One of them cooperated and received one fine. The other did not have a valid ID with him and gave a name that could not be verified.
Eight days in jail
At the police station it turned out that he had given a false name. The man received three fines: for not showing ID, giving a false name and entering prohibited territory. In addition, he appeared to have been flagged for outstanding fines.
The man is given two weeks to pay or lodge an objection. If he doesn’t, he will spend eight days in jail.
