Just life – program celebrates guest of honor Pepe Willberg’s day on Friday.

The program recalls, among other things, the early days of Willberg’s career, when he sang in the 1960s in the band Jormas. The band gained enough fame that the seats started to fill up.

– Kuplahalli had Jan Rohde & The Adventures, whose former drummer, Kurre Mattson, was in our band. The guys from Adventures were used to all the places being full when they are in Finland. The bubble hall was empty because all the young people were listening to us on the dance stage, Willberg recalls.

Eventually, however, the band’s activities waned. Mikki Kauste asks Willberg the reason for this at the Vain liäämä table.

– There was a bit of a schism among the band members. Then the army conveniently intervened. We thought it would be wiser to join the army and calm the situation down, Willberg opens.

When the band members got out of the army, time had passed.

– Pretty soon we realized that our guitarist Hasse Walli played in the Blues Section band, which he had founded. Youth music had completely turned on its head, Willberg laughs.

– It unfortunately happened that just when Jormas was on the threshold of greatness, there were schisms within the band and we decided to join the army. After that, there were new times, Willberg continues.

Over time, Willberg patched things up with his old bandmates.

– Even the bad times have turned into good ones. I can well understand that I was a difficult case when it came to music. It was difficult to walk over my opinion, says Willberg.
