Viola Holt, who died at the age of 76 in her hometown of Muiderberg, was cremated in Hilversum, the place where she started her television career. “The family would like to thank everyone in the Netherlands and also the media for the respectful way in which Viola has been commemorated in recent days,” her relatives told the newspaper. Fast and abrupt

It happened quickly and abruptly, according to Private Boss Evert Santegoeds. The morning after Viola’s death, he immediately called some acquaintances and colleagues. “Very few people were aware of it at that time,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

He continues: “It is so unexpected that some people could not imagine it at all, because they had been in contact with Viola during the week. Unfortunately, it was true.”

Lifeless

Viola died at home. “Viola lay lifeless in the house. Her husband Peter covered her up. It was completely unexpected. She didn’t see it coming either.”

So now she has been cremated. The farewell took place in a very limited circle. “The farewell will be in a very limited circle. From what I understand, there will only be ten people there. The smallest audience Viola has ever attracted.”

Very small

Why was Viola’s funeral kept so small? According to her good friend Thomas Woolthuis, this was a conscious decision. “Only the people who really belonged to her heart. With attention and love. Just the way she lived.”

Things went exactly Viola’s way. According to Evert, everything was already determined. “It took her by surprise, but she was prepared for it.”
