The shooting at the Godwit, in which one person was injured, was not the only shooting incident that evening in Hoorn. There were a total of three shooting incidents, in quick succession. More than half an hour after the first shooting, a house at Winterkoninkje, in the same Kersenboogerd district, was shot at.
Several bullets were fired at a house. “One of them went through the glass of a window. And people were home in the house. Fortunately, no one was injured,” the police said about this second incident.
Possible connection between shootings
Not long afterwards it happened again: this time on Juliana van Stolberglaan. This is more towards the center of Hoorn. A 20-year-old man from Amsterdam was found injured there. He was arrested after a visit to the hospital and is still in custody. The police do not know how the injured are doing now.
The police investigate all incidents individually, although there are investigations a connection is taken into account. “We cannot rule out that one thing is related to the other,” said a police spokesperson. “We have conducted a neighborhood survey and we hope that people who know more about this or have images from a doorbell camera will contact us.”
‘Holding no longer necessary’
The police do not want to say much about the reason why the two suspects were released. “We first detain them to prevent evidence from being removed. That says nothing about their role. For each suspect we individually assess how long it is necessary to detain them. And that was no longer necessary with these two suspects.”
