In the “Disciplinary Referrals” statement of the Turkish Football Federation dated 10 November 2025, Beşiktaş goalkeeper Ersin Destanoğlu, whose name was among the football players referred to the PFDK for allegedly betting, made a remarkable statement on his social media account.
In his post, Destanoğlu emphasized that the allegations were unfounded and included the following statements:
“These allegations made against me are completely unfounded, unfounded and contrary to reality. Throughout my professional career, I have always acted in accordance with the ethical values of football and the requirements of the law.”
Destanoğlu stated that he would not allow him to be tried in public and stated that he would use his legal rights to the fullest:
“In the face of these allegations, which constitute an assassination of reputation, I will not allow myself to be tried publicly on unfounded accusations; I will use all the legal rights granted to me by the law to the fullest.”
Addressing the public at the end of his statement, Destanoğlu said, “I have full faith that the public will act with common sense in the face of unfounded allegations and that justice will be served as soon as possible.”
