“Babo – The Arrest Warrant Story” inspires – but a lot of companions are noticeably missing. What’s behind the arrest warrant team’s silence?
The documentary by the German rap icon was received positively by both the industry and fans and was showered with praise. But parts of the immediate environment – especially the arrest warrant team – only commented sparingly.

Mother canceled shortly before filming
The cast of the Netflix documentary “Babo – The Arrest Warrant Story” has gaps. According to director Juan Moreno, the German rapper’s mother was originally an integral part of the production. Her rejection came as a surprise and shortly before filming began. Moreno described the moment in an interview with “Spiegel” as follows: “We drove off and then she asked me in a heartwarming voice message whether I could maybe forego showing her in the film because it would be too difficult for her to talk about her late husband and the condition of her son. And I think you have to respect that.”
The arrest warrant team is not well represented and mainly provides descriptions
In addition to the mother, who did not take part in the Netflix documentary for emotional reasons, the film also remained sparsely cast in terms of arrest warrant’s long-standing environment around the Urban/Universal label and manager Erfan Bolourchi – who was missing from the camera and remained publicly silent. Scenes from everyday studio life with arrest warrant’s long-time producer Benjamin Bazzazian, however, are among the heart of the documentary. The music producer described the rapper as a “music brain” who should not be underestimated because he knows exactly what he is doing.
Michael Weicker, booker and CEO of Metropole Talent, and Max Mönster, Director Artists and Repertoire (A&R) of Universal Music, spoke in the documentary primarily about the rapper’s lack of reliability and unpredictable behavior – especially under the influence of drugs. Neffi Temur, A&R manager of Universal Music, spoke about a tour cancellation that was necessary due to arrest warrant’s unstable health condition and a serious conversation he had with him at the request of arrest warrant’s brother Cem (Capo). The attempt to get the rapper into professional treatment also failed. But the descriptions mostly remained on the surface. Critics complained about the documentary that arrest warrant continued to be marketed despite his poor health, while there was no critical examination of one’s own responsibility in dealing with the artist.
Support from industry members and family
In the documentary itself, rap greats such as Materia, Jan Delay and Xatar, who died in May 2025, have their say. Industry colleagues also expressed their praise on social media. Rap colleague PA Sports wrote on Instagram about the Netflix documentary: “One of the best productions that has ever come from this country. Without a doubt, by far the best production from this genre. Huge respect to prison for this honesty, for this life story and this incredible career.”
In addition to the protagonist of the story, Aykut Anhan alias arrest warrant, his close environment also played an important role. His wife Nina Anhan and the brothers Cem (Capo) and Aytac Anhan had a significant impact on the documentary with their participation.
