“Don’t reinforce it anymore?”: Bavaria reacts to an explosive question

Even without Jamal Musiala, Bayern are currently hard to stop. An ex-professional wonders whether it will stay that way when he returns – and gets an answer.
With 16 wins from 16 competitive games, FC Bayern is currently in impressive form. And that despite the fact that the injured Jamal Musiala has not yet been able to play a role this season. Munich’s sports director still sees the German international as a key figure thanks to the good line-up: Musiala is “an exceptional player, a game-decider” and will be “a real asset to the team” when he returns, said Christoph Freund on the Sky microphone before the game at Union.
And further: “In the summer we talked about how we would get along without Jamal – and now he’s suddenly no longer supposed to join our team?” Freund was reacting to a thesis by ex-professional Philipp Lahm. In his column, the 2014 world champion asked himself whether Musiala, who is currently missing due to a broken fibula, “would he be able to insert him at a profit or will this weaken Bayern’s clarity?”
Lahm made it clear: “As is well known, a team is only successful when it is more than the sum of its individual parts.” Musiala’s return will therefore be “interesting”. Christoph Freund pushed aside the concerns: “He will have his place in the team because he is simply an exceptional player for us.”
The 22-year-old was seriously injured at the Club World Cup in the summer. Meanwhile, a return to the pitch is getting closer. According to Freund, Musiala will start ball training again in the coming weeks. It cannot be ruled out that he will play for FC Bayern this calendar year.
