The project is an initiative of offshore wind player JERA Nex bp, in collaboration with international partners. The filling station is part of the European ISHY program, which focuses on hybrid and hydrogen technology for shipping and ports.
During the demonstration phase in 2025, the hydrogen filling station will mainly supply one hydrogen ship: the Hydrocat 48 from Windcat. However, the installation can serve several ships per day. The green hydrogen is supplied by Lhyfe and produced from renewable energy in France and Germany.
“By investing in these types of projects, we are accelerating the shift to cleaner offshore operations,” says Kristof Verlinden, Head of Global O&M at JERA Nex bp. “We show that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.”
