Last Sunday, BTS made a surprise appearance at the Oscars. The K-pop group performed in the Favorite Film Musical With BTS segment. In the taped performance, the band members shared their favorite musical film moments.

“Coco!” Jimin exclaimed as footage of the 2017 Pixar animated film was shown. Remarkably, at the 2018 Oscars, Coco had taken home the award for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Achievement in Music, written by Dor Motion Pictures, for the song “Remember Me.” “It’s a real masterpiece,” commented band leader RM. “I watched it three times. And I cried a lot.”

In the clip, the other members of BTS displayed their love for Disney and Pixar films, with V describing their work as “amazing,” a sentiment echoed by J-Hope. Meanwhile, Jin pointed out that the studios’ films are “good at stimulating emotions.”

J-Hope also praised the 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin, starring Will Smith, who later that night won best actor awards for King Richard. “Shoutout to Will Smith, Aladdin!” RM added.

Will Smith also made headlines for another performance that night. When Chris Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada being bald, he came on stage and slapped the comedian. Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from the autoimmune disease alopecia, which leads to hair loss, and also explains the disease on social media.
