The confirmation of the contract extension for the Argentinian driver no longer comes as a surprise. He remains a teammate of Pierre Gasly, who was previously signed until 2028.
Colapinto (22) drove for Williams for several months last season, after that team said goodbye to Logan Sargeant. Alpine then took him over, after which he took over from Jack Doohan after six races. Colapinto has not yet made much of an impression for the struggling Alpine. He has not scored a single World Cup point this year.

“I have followed Franco’s development throughout his time in Formula 1 and I have always believed that he has the right qualities and potential to become a top driver who can grow with the team,” said Alpine team principal Flavio Briatore.
“Our decision to continue working together in 2026 is a clear indication of our commitment and strong support for Franco as he develops as a driver. It has been a tough year for the entire team, and it has not been the easiest scenario to perform in, but both Franco and Pierre have done their best to put the team in the best possible position for next season.”
