Recommendations of the Editorial team

I guessed with the editors once and moderated the pop quiz at ROLLING STONE Beach twice – and I know how much it bothered the editors to lose. Our readers are smart and want to test their (music) knowledge.

Since 2022, the pop quiz, based on the legendary pub guessing rounds, has been available directly after the talk with the editorial team. It is no longer an insider tip. The alpine pasture was filled to capacity three times.

From the stage you can see the sparkle in the participants’ eyes, the excited puzzlement together as to what the correct answer could be. For some it’s too easy (it’s clear which ideal album “Blaue Augen” and “Berlin” are on), others moan about questions that are almost impossible to answer (at least every beach visitor now knows exactly to the second what the playing length of “November Rain” is).

It’s not about who wins, even if a free annual subscription is definitely a good motivation. Readers of ROLLING STONE are, as is clearly shown here, connoisseurs. They don’t just listen to music, they also want to understand it. And so everyone who has seen all the cover versions that Jochen Distelmeyer has ever recorded can shine for a moment.

By the way, you can tell that the questions in the pop quiz make you think by how extensively the participants continue to discuss the question topics and exchange anecdotes afterwards. It should be like that again this year. This time it will be with “Quiz And Shout” but there is also a variant that takes place live and digitally on the smartphone. The editorial team is looking forward to taking revenge for last year.
