No mackerel for a while, while other countries continue fishing: are we the best boy in the class?

For the time being, the Dutch consumer is alone in his attempt to save the overfished mackerel from extinction. While smoked mackerel is disappearing from the shelves here, there are no announcements from foreign retailers that they are also stopping sales. “This is a slap in the face,” says fisheries director Tim Heddema.
