Bad news from the French alpine team. Around ten months after her serious knee injury and shortly after her comeback, 24-year-old Clarisse Brèche was seriously injured again. The season is already over for them.
The young Frenchwoman Clarisse Brèche has suffered another serious knee injury and will miss the entire Olympic season. The 24-year-old announced this in a post on Instagram on Wednesday.
“I have no words… this is hard,” she wrote alongside a picture of herself training. She tore her cruciate ligament again. In addition, her meniscus was again affected in a training accident.
“The smile has faded”
“The smile that I usually have on my face has faded in the last few hours. It is another injury in this tough sport that I still love despite these difficult trials,” explained Brèche, who also announced that she wanted to fight her way back.
“I’ll get up again, like I did before. But this time it will probably take a little longer to recover mentally and take care of myself. Thank you for your support,” wrote the Frenchwoman, who already has a long and sad history when it comes to knee injuries.
Third serious knee injury in two years
Already in 2023 she seriously injured her left knee. At the World Championships this year, her right knee suffered damage during the giant slalom. At that time, too, she tore a cruciate ligament. After a forced break of months and intensive rehabilitation, she fought her way back in the last few weeks. Now she sustained the serious injury again in her left knee during training on the Senales Glacier.
Brèche is already the third alpine runner in just a few weeks to be seriously injured on the slope in South Tyrol. Before her, the Italian Marta Rossetti and the former world champion Marta Bassino were hit. For her too, her Olympic dream was dashed prematurely.
