There are Finlandia nominees for fiction this year by Monika Fagerholm Döda Trakten / Kvinnor i revolt (Work), Marjo Niemen A low budget war movie (Work), Riko Saatsi Night sitters (Gummerus), Elina Salon Collectors (Big Dipper), Jarkko Volanen Obsessed whites (Work) and Hanna Weselius Pronouns (WSOY).
The winner is chosen by musician Maija Vilkkumaa.
The Finlandia Prize for Fiction is a recognition given by the Finnish Book Foundation for a meritorious Finnish novel. The prize is 30,000 euros.
The award was established in 1984, and it is now being awarded for the 42nd time.
Pajtim Statovci won the Finlandia prize last year with his work A cow gives birth at night.
