Sales of Ruconest, a drug for the treatment of the hereditary swelling disease angioedema, grew 29 percent in the third quarter to $82.2 million, fractionally above the 28 percent gain in the previous quarter.
At Joenja, a drug introduced in 2023 against the rare immune disorder APDS, sales growth more than doubled to 34 percent, bringing it to 15.1 million dollars. It was already expected that Joenja would make a stronger contribution to turnover growth in the second half of the year than in the first half of the year. It is gradually becoming clear which of the 1,400 patients with previously identified symptoms actually have this disease. They are then eligible for therapy with Joenja.
Pharming again increases forecast and leaves start-up losses behind
Pharming’s net profit in the third quarter amounted to $7.5 million. A loss of $2.8 million still remains over the first nine months. This is mainly related to the takeover of the Swedish Abliva at the end of last year. There are no revenues yet against the estimated costs of 30 million dollars for this year. Pharming has started a cost savings program for its own organization, but this will only be fully reflected in the results next year.
Forecast
Pharming is now targeting full-year sales of $365 to $375 million, an increase of 23 to 26 percent compared to last year. That’s a solid improvement from the $335 to $350 million forecast three months ago, which was already an increase from May. Pharming does not provide a concrete profit forecast, but based on its expectations for operating costs, it is likely that the annual result will be positive.
