Club NXT has once again come into the spotlight at European level. Without three strong players – Axl Wins, Daan Braspenning and Jesse Bisiwu, who are currently active in the U17 World Cup – the Club Brugge team managed to surprise their peers from FC Barcelona. Despite the difference in experience and reputation, Club dominated NXT with free and attacking football, forcing their Spanish opponents to make mistakes.
After fifteen minutes, Tobias Lund-Jensen took advantage of a mistake by Barca goalkeeper Bonfill and gave the home team the lead. Club NXT continued to push and defend solidly, while also continuing to create chances. In extra time, substitute Jakke Van Britsom decided the match by kicking in the second goal.
With this victory, Club NXT remains undefeated and the young Bruges team gives an impressive calling card in the Youth League. With 12 points, they are already assured of a ticket for the knockouts, where they will play in the sixteenth finals.
