De Rossi is expected in the city probably already this evening. Tomorrow, after signing the contract until the end of the championship, he will meet the team in Pegli and lead the first session. The club seemed intent on taking advantage of the championship break to make a final decision on the coach destined to replace Vieira with greater tranquility, but then they preferred to bring forward the times, despite the confidence reaffirmed by the club’s leaders in the two current interim coaches. Since last Saturday, when Vieira had decided to step aside, De Rossi had been the first choice of the rossoblù club, with the Vanoli option. But, in the end, Genoa preferred to place their trust in the Roman coach, who had left the helm of Roma just over a year ago. De Rossi proved to be particularly attracted to the challenge he will face at the helm of a Grifone team that only achieved its first victory of the season against Sassuolo and remains in the red zone of the standings.
