The New York Jets have officially given up the NFL season and are fully committed to the change that the franchise from the Big Apple so desperately needs. To do this, the Jets are doing a complete sell-off.

Just a few hours after the Gang Green sent probably the team’s best defender in cornerback Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis, the second-best defender is also gone. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is no longer part of the Jets and will defend for the Dallas Cowboys in the future.

Williams was the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and quickly blossomed into a top player at his position. So far this season he has 32 tackles and one sack. He has also produced three forced fumbles – a career best.

As Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports, America’s Team is looking to hire Williams for a second-round pick next year and a first-round pick in 2027. This is the Cowboys’ original pick and not anything like the Packers’ former pick, who sent him to Texas in exchange for Micah Parsons. Defensive tackle Mazi Smith also comes to the Jets from Dallas.

It is the second trade that the Cowboys have made on NFL Deadline Day. Linebacker Logan Wilson was previously brought in from the Cincinnati Bengals. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones made good on his announcement that he would be heavily involved before the trade deadline.

NFL: Jets raise massive capital

The New York Jets, on the other hand, have clearly made a change to the current season and are fully focused on the coming upheaval. They now have a lot of draft capital over the next two years to completely turn the team around.

Of course, you still have your own first-round pick in 2026, which, especially after the two recent departures, will most likely be a top-three pick.

There is also another first-round pick in 2026, an additional second-round pick in 2026 and three first-round picks in 2027.
