A quarter of a century after its debut, Kappa celebrates its icon: a shirt that renews the myth of performance, sustainability and sporting spirit. And she returns with the French striker, who dressed her during her time at Auxerre
Twenty-five years later, the legend is still on the pitch. Kappa celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Kombat, the shirt that changed the way we understand football forever in 2000. Then, during the European Championships in Belgium and Holland, the Italian national team presented to the world a design destined to go down in history: the Kombat 2000, tight-fitting, elastic, designed for performance and capable of combining technology and style in a single vision.

The secret was in the stop stopping technology, a revolutionary fabric that guaranteed up to thirty centimeters of freedom of movement and made it impossible to hide holding faults. A technical detail that transformed a simple sports garment into a manifesto of innovation. From there a new era was born for football uniforms, and Kappa became synonymous with functional design. Today that revolution shines again with the Kombat XXV, a modern and sustainable evolution of the iconic shirt. Made of 92% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, it combines lightness, elasticity and attention to the environment, carrying forward the same spirit of research that changed the game twenty-five years ago.

The path of celebrations began in March with the “Keep on Kombat” exhibition in the Milan headquarters and now continues with a global project. From 15 to 30 November, 18 teams sponsored by Kappa will wear the Kombat™ XXV in official matches, transforming the football pitches into a global stage. Among the protagonists, historic clubs such as Genoa, Fiorentina, Nice, Valladolid, Deportivo La Coruña, Racing Club de Avellaneda, Vasco da Gama, Nacional de Madeira and Athens Kallithea. The face of the campaign is Djibril Cissé, former French star and style icon, who wore the original Kombat during his time with Auxerre. Today he embodies its spirit again with the same energy and personality that made him a symbol of character on and off the pitch. To confirm how much the Kombat™ is now a symbol also in lifestyle, Kappa collaborates with Slam Jam, a point of reference for street culture, for a special exclusive edition of the Kombat XXV: light, elastic, unstoppable. Today as then. The legend continues.
