Artiste Anna Abreu35, speaks Esko Eerikäinen52, Sunday brunchpodcast about the fierce competition in the music industry.

Abreu says that he doesn’t think too much about what others are doing, but he doesn’t always manage to avoid thinking about it. He also feels that there is a lot of jealousy in one direction or another in the industry.

At the same time, Abreu feels that there is a really good atmosphere in Finnish artist circles compared to many other fields.

– The only thing that saddens me is that women compete much more with each other than men. Because currently men, rappers, are not compared to each other in the same way as women, the artist says in the episode.

Abreu says, for example, that she often hears comparisons to other female artists in interviews. He says that he also hears questions about who is his favorite female artist and with that comes comparisons.

– But if you ask a favorite male artist, I feel that they do not compete with each other in the same way. Because of that, they also dare to give each other more space and have guests on their songs. I would like a more open mood for that, he states.

When it comes to industry envy, Abreu feels that many people avoid feeling it themselves or admitting it. The artist thinks it would be healthier to just admit that he is jealous.

Abreu says that he himself has conversations with his artist friends, for example, about the envy he experiences towards them. The artist says he does it so he doesn’t become a bitter person. According to Abreu, discussions have always made it easier.

– If you just prevent that feeling from coming inside you all the time, it will only grow bigger. No matter how much you say you’re not jealous, everyone is jealous sometimes. It is inevitable as a person, the artist reminds

– But it’s the a and o of everything, how you handle that feeling and how you talk about it or treat the person to whom that feeling is directed, he adds at the end.

Abreu will be on an indefinite hiatus after his celebratory concert. The concerts will take place in March at the Veikkaus arena.

Abreu rose to prominence after participating at the age of 16 Idols– singing competition in 2007. He finished second in the competition.

Abreu’s most famous songs include, among others The most beautiful of lies, Stereo and End Of Love. Abreu’s eighth album will be released before the concert at the end of 2025.
