The drinking water is slightly contaminated with enterococcal bacteria in parts of Utrecht, Bilthoven, Bosch en Duin, Bunnik, De Bilt, Groenekan, Maarssen, Oud Zuilen, Tienhoven, Westbroek and Zeist. This is reported by drinking water company Vitens, which advises people to boil the water for three minutes before drinking it, using it to prepare food or brushing their teeth with it.
