After 75 million change

Big words for Nick Woltemade: After his top start at Newcastle United, coach Eddie Howe praised the international striker highly. “We are very happy with Nick. He is first class on and off the pitch. The way he behaves, how he dealt with the change, how he welcomed his teammates,” said the coach of the Premier League club about the 75 million euro signing from VfB Stuttgart.
The 23-year-old Woltemade has scored four goals in six league games so far. He was also successful in the Champions League and in the recent 2-0 League Cup win against Tottenham Hotspur. “He has the ability to score goals and the ability to get into the right position. Technically he is very good,” praised Howe. “We still need to get more out of his game and help him in any way we can, but the early signs are really positive.”
It is now a matter of confirming these achievements – even if this is likely to become more difficult in the future. “Opponents will obviously make plans for him,” Howe predicted. “He has to continue to find a way to score goals.” Following his development in recent months and considering the size of his transfer fee, Woltemade was the biggest winner in the Premier League update, increasing his market value from €30m to €65m. This means that only two German footballers are valued more highly than the Bremen native.
If TV expert Lothar Matthäus had his way, Woltemade’s market value would be even higher – at least 100 million euros. “If he were to look for another move now, he would be worth a three-digit million sum. Because the first Premier League goals and his first goal for the national team make him a little more expensive again,” said Matthäus in the “Bayern Insider” podcast from “Bild”. Woltemade signed a contract with Newcastle until 2031.
