TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu announced at the press conference held recently that 371 of the 571 referees working in professional leagues have betting accounts and 152 are actively betting. Hacıosmanoğlu also made a statement about football players who bet.
Speaking to CNN Türk, Hacıosmanoğlu’s statements are as follows:
“A COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED IN APRIL”
“A comprehensive research was carried out in April. The score of the Ankaraspor – Nazilli match was beneficial for both teams. We wanted to start this work immediately with our friends. Both sides placed bets on the match. A penalty was given at the upper limit by us. Then I told my friends let’s start this research in real terms. We were expecting 15 referees, but of course I was upset when these numbers came out.”
“After being deprived of rights for 45 days, his arbitration ends. Since it is not finalized at the moment, there is an arbitration process. After the arbitration is finalized, the arbitrator’s duties will also end.”
“3 THOUSAND 700 FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE BEING EXAMINED”
“I was really upset when the numbers came out. We will do whatever is necessary. We started with the referees, now it is the players’ turn. 3,700 people are being examined. It is not a crime to open a betting account, they follow the matches from there. No one should suspect them. It is a crime to actively use that account and place bets. Our boards are already giving the necessary punishment.”
“FOREIGN REFEREE WILL NOT COME”
“They say foreign referees should come. No, we have brothers. We currently have enough referees to manage the leagues.”
