Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé has been awarded the Golden Boot for last season’s top scorer in European football leagues. The honor was held in the presidential box of the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in the Spanish capital, Mbappé’s club announced.

The Frenchman said it was “an honor” to accept this award: “This is an important moment for me. I am winning this award for the first time and it means a lot to me as a striker.” He thanked his teammates and his club Real Madrid.

Mbappé outdid Kane – Bayern striker well on his way in 2025/26

“It’s a great honor for me to play for Real Madrid. Everyone knows it was my childhood dream and now I’m here. The Madridistas have shown me affection from day one and even before,” said the 26-year-old attacker, who previously scored goals for Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappé scored a total of 31 goals in the Spanish upper house in the 2024/25 season, surpassing all other professionals in the top European leagues. Bayern Munich’s top scorer Harry Kane, who won the Golden Shoe a year ago, scored 26 goals in the crucial 2024/25 Bundesliga season. This season there are twelve goals after eight games.

In the current season, Kane Stand is now well on his way to getting the trophy back. With 1.5 goals per game (12 goals), he is currently in the lead among the top contenders, followed by Erling Haaland at Manchester City and Mabppé with currently eleven goals each (statistics: The Golden Shoe for the best scorers).
