Kuurne purchased fourteen new parking meters last year, worth approximately 100,000 euros. The meters were intended to improve traffic flow in the blue zone with free tickets behind the car window, but paid parking was never planned.

Ultimately, the installation and use of the meters turned out to be much more complicated than expected. “One, it is not free, you have to send a text message, and two, older people have to constantly enter their license plate number. That is an action that is not done. Kuurne is much too small for that,” Mayor Francis Benoit previously explained.
