German cycling team separates from suspended professional

Professional cyclist Oier Lazkano will no longer take part in races for the time being. The world association UCI temporarily suspended the 25-year-old on Thursday. The reason was said to be unexplained irregularities in his biological passport. The abnormalities would extend over the years 2022 to 2024. During this period, Lazkano was still under contract with the Movistar team.
The German team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe, for which Lazkano has been riding since the 2025 season, reacted immediately to the UCI’s decision. As a spokeswoman confirmed at the request of the AFP news agency, the team is parting ways with the Spaniard.
Lazkano hasn’t competed in a race since April. His team had not yet given any reasons for the long break from competition. His last race was at the classic Paris-Roubaix where he finished 117th. Lazkano has since also deleted his social media channels.
