Injury on the arm
Six years later, Jules still cannot speak properly, he also has eye problems and has difficulty walking. Who is to blame for all this? Jules’ then babysitter, one of a 32-year-old woman from Poperinge, is on trial. “Every time the defendant took care of Jules, something strange happened. The neighbor heard a lot of commotion and panic the week before the incident. She thinks something had already happened. The following Friday, Jules came back with an injury on the arm.”
Lie detector
The case ended up in the refrigerator but was revived two years ago. Jules’ parents, his host mother and the babysitter in the defendant’s back all take a lie detector test. Marie-Hélène Debaere, childcare lawyer: “In the end, my client took a polygraph test that was not good, and people started looking in her direction. We say that several people had taken care of baby Jules the week before. There is no evidence that my client is guilty in this file.”
The Public Prosecution Service requests an acquittal due to lack of evidence. The judge will make a decision in early December.
