This year we again see the brothers Henk and Bert Ziengs from Assen in the annual Quote 500 containing the richest Dutch people. The highest ranked Drent is Henk Ziengs in 369th place, who saw his wealth rise to 195 million euros.

His wealth comes from the shoe stores Scapino and Ziengs, where he resigned as director a few years ago. According to Quote, the increase in Henk’s wealth comes from the ‘excellent profit figures’ of those companies in which he still owns shares.

Older brother Bert Ziengs sold his shares in the shoe business to his brother in the 1990s and then went into real estate. He also invested in classic cars. But he says to Quote: “You can take me off the list, I am retired.” Bert Ziengs’ wealth increased to 160 million euros, placing him in 451st place.

In addition to the list of individual rich people, Quote has also listed the 50 richest families. In 16th place, with a capital of 1.1 billion euros, we see the Wagenborg family. That family is known from the shipping company that provides ferry services to the Wadden Islands. One of the co-owners from that family lives in Zuidlaren.

Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken is again at number 1 on the list and saw her fortune rise to 12.3 billion euros. The richest family is the Brenninkmeijer family, known from the C&A, with 22 billion euros.
