Hilarity and discussion

The blue wall in the center of the municipality caused a lot of mixed feelings and hilarity among the residents. Vincent Lafaut transformed it into a new IKEA shop in a photo. Others called the building the new open VLD office and some noted that there was now a lot of blue on the street.

Before the summer, the environment department of the municipality of Kuurne, the Vlas police zone and architect Goedefroo sat together. A solution was proposed that was in accordance with the permit. The panels were reduced in number so that many windows became available again. This made it aesthetically more beautiful and functional because once again optimal reception. The panels were now painted in the correct colors. And it was decided to integrate the other panels into the building of the Vlas police zone in Kortrijk.

Panels of a police station

The chief of police of the Vlas Filip Devriendt police zone: “The main aim of installing such panels is to improve the look and feel for the citizen. The intention is also to harmonize the appearance of the police station with the main police station in Kortrijk. Without panels, the police station in Kuurne is almost unrecognizable when you walk or drive past it. That can no longer be the intention. That is why we wanted to change this. The police station must be catch the eye and radiate dynamism. Placing panels, in the typical light blue of the local police, together with a clear mention of the word police and the police logo, is ideal to stand out more and give citizens a feeling of security and confidence.”

Flavors and colors

Mayor Benoit is satisfied: “Circularity at its best because not a single panel is lost through reuse. And tastes and colors can be discussed. But it is now in accordance with the permit. Moreover, it is functional and aesthetically in harmony with the building.”
