London (AP) – According to a report in the “Times”, the sale of the Champions League winner FC Chelsea should take place in April.
As reported by the British newspaper, citing US bank Raine, the preferred bidder is to be presented in the week beginning April 18th. Four bidders were therefore still in the running for the English football club. They have until April 11th to place their final bids. Raine and Chelsea officials will then select their preferred candidate. The UK Treasury then decides whether to issue a license for sale.
Raine has been commissioned by Chelsea to handle the sale. Russian club owner Roman Abramovich, who took over the Premier League club in 2003, was hit with tough sanctions by the British government for alleged links to Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin. The billionaire had recently made the decision to sell Chelsea.
