The well-known German rapper Capital Bra caused a stir and criticism with a statement about the AfD. In a live stream with the influencer Vegeraldt Belkason said the musician, who was born in Russia and grew up in Ukraine, and who had taken a clear position against the party in the past: “I used to criticize the AfD very, very, very, very much. Now I think to myself that they are right about some things.” That reported, among other things, “World“.

He sees injustices, especially when it comes to granting German citizenship. “I have 22 German number one hits, I have four German children, I had a German wife,” he listed. “They still won’t give me a German passport.”

The artist, who has lived in Germany for more than two decades, continued: “Suddenly people come here, they live here for a month, they get a German passport.” Germany “brought him up” but at the same time denied him citizenship. “Although I pay taxes here in very large amounts. They want 45 percent of me, but I’m happy to give it away because I wouldn’t have become a rap star in Ukraine.” Of course, this causes discussions and sometimes clear criticism on social media, but unsurprisingly it also receives approval from the right.

Capital Bra: Previous statements on right-wing populism and AfD

The statements are in clear contrast to the rapper’s previous lines. In the song “Sturmmaske auf” with Kollegah and Farid Bang, he rapped: “I’m going to Ukraine, but my Benz is lower / because my trunk is full of AfD members / F*** their mothers, break their jaws, and you’ll never see them like kamikaze pilots again.” In “Gutes Herz” he also described right-wing populists as hypocrites: “Your Nazis are funny, watch anime, get snow from Kanacken, but then vote for the AfD,” “Welt” quoted him as saying.
