Marimekko took a new step in exporting Finnish fashion and opened the first flagship store in its history in Paris last Friday. The shop is located in Le Marais, one of the busiest areas of the city, at 120 Rue Vieille du Temple.

The concept of the 140 square meter store, located in the corner building of Rue Vieille du Temple, was inspired by Marimekko’s own fabric printing house in Herttoniemi, Helsinki, whose architecture has left technical elements visible.
References to fabric printing can be seen, for example, in the playful main colors used in the store, which are taken from diagrams used in printing, painted metal railings and fabric carts. These colors act as guiding elements in the store and separate its different areas from each other.
