The ex-Bayern professional from Munich scores his ninth goal for Vancouver. In the interview, Müller reveals why he doesn’t reveal his secret to success.

Munich’s Thomas Müller made his first playoff game in the North American Major League Soccer a successful debut. The 35-year-old made it 2-0 with a penalty kick in the Vancouver Whitecaps’ 3-0 win against FC Dallas (60th minute). With nine goals in his first two months at his new club, the long-time Bayern professional shows that he is still accurate even overseas.

In the best-of-three mode of the first playoff round, Vancouver now needs another win to advance to the next round. The second meeting will take place on Saturday evening (local time) in Dallas.

“We controlled the game from the start. That was the plan. Finding the balance between attacking and being ready for counterattacks. We controlled it well and distributed the ball well,” said Müller afterwards on Apple TV. “But that was just one win, we still need a second one.”

Asked what makes the Whitecaps special, the 2014 world champion replied: “If I wasn’t a player, but an expert, I would say this team has a good cohesion. But as a player, I don’t reveal any secrets. We are ready for more. And I want to have fun with the boys.”
