Loretta Schrijver is no longer there in the new season of The Masked Singer and her former colleagues get over this very quickly, viewers think. “This is just not possible.”

It has only been half a year since Loretta Schrijver died, but apparently no one at RTL 4 has come up with the idea of skipping her program The Masked Singer for a season and only picking up the thread again at the end of 2026. The result? The show is almost back and we see her former colleagues laughing, screeching and roaring on the socials.

Hysterical Buddy

Are those hysterical videos from the studio (see below) really appropriate? No, according to many viewers. And jury member Buddy Vedder has now responded to this. “I also read your reactions to cheerful videos from the studio. They really touched me. I also thought they were a bit early,” he writes. Instagram.

“I think that when you see the episodes, you cannot escape the love and loss that we all feel for Loretta. And that, just like in life, there can be joy as well as sadness.”

Lots of fun

Show news star Dyantha Brooks thinks it’s great that Loretta’s former colleagues are now laughing and roaring again. “They always have a lot of fun during those recordings. We know that. It is a great fun program, but there was also some criticism, Eline,” she says in the show section on SBS 6.

Show expert Eline de Ruig: “Yes, I thought that was really special. Loretta is of course not there for the first time. She died in March, but the recordings will of course continue as usual. That is really something that Loretta herself would have really wanted. If she had heard that the program would not go ahead, she would really go crazy, I think.”

Fun and enjoyment

However, the makers of The Masked Singer return very exuberantly. Logical, says Eline. “Of course they just have fun and enjoyment, but that is not always appreciated by online fans or haters, I could almost say, because under these types of cheerful videos they post all kinds of criticism about how they get it into their heads to act so cheerful.”

Dyantha: “But you have to all work together, right? You can’t sit in a minor key?”

Eline: “They try to make it fun and of course they reflect on Loretta. The first episode will be on November 14 and there will also be a tribute to her.”

What does Geer think?

What does Gerard Joling think of the criticism? “We saw the video, which was made with a lot of love. It is very difficult for us when we go to the toilet, because Loretta’s dressing room was next to it. An economical light is now on there and no one is there anymore. I personally think that is a nasty sight.”

He continues: “But she would have wanted nothing more than for us all to continue doing this. It is a great loss. You also especially miss the fun. She is certainly being honored and people can certainly see that in the first broadcast. There will always be commentary.”

“We are an entertainment program and you have to make do with what you have and make it fun with those on the jury.”
