Jérôme Boateng won many titles with Bayern – now he wants to become a coach and stop by Säbener Straße as a guest. There was a violent fan protest against this.
FC Bayern fans recently spoke out with clear banners against the return of ex-professional footballer Jérôme Boateng as a trainee coach. First, some posters against Boateng appeared in the top Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund (2-1), then in the Champions League against Bruges (4-0).
According to a report by “tz”, the fan protest could have been successful. Because the record champions should seriously consider discarding the idea of an internship. Neither the club nor Boateng are said to have expected the violent public reactions, which is why the 2014 world champion no longer has any desire to return to Bayern.
Supporters had recently unrolled banners in the south curve, which read, among other things: “Whoever gives the perpetrator space bears his guilt – Boateng, fuck off!”, “No place for character pigs in our club – No more room for Boateng!” and “No stage for perpetrators. Fuck off Boateng!”
With their protest, the Bayern fans are apparently referring to the fact that Boateng was found guilty and warned by the Munich I Regional Court in 2024 for intentional bodily harm to an ex-girlfriend. Boateng denies ever hitting a woman.
The club bosses initially supported Jérôme Boateng and the idea of an internship. Sports director Max Eberl said: “We would approve of it. It’s not about a job, not about a permanent position at FC Bayern.” And further: “It’s about watching training sessions and deciding whether this can be a path for him in the future.” When asked about the fans’ protests, Eberl “did not want to comment on it in depth.”
Now it seems that both parties will no longer find each other. Bayern have not yet officially commented on the latest reports.
