Dutch is disappearing as a scientific language in Flanders. Of all doctorates completed at the five Flemish universities, 97 percent are in English. This is evident from new figures from De Standaard and Fris, the Flanders Research Information Space, a research portal that collects figures on scientific publications. “Anyone who publishes in Dutch cannot make a career,” said researcher Dries Bostyn (Ghent University) in the newspaper on Saturday.
