Finnish NHL champion Mikael Granlund was in a wild mood in the NHL round the night before Friday.
The puck genius had a night of no less than five power points (2+3), when the Anaheim Ducks he represented claimed a 7-5 victory over Boston.
Granlundin got the second pass by Drew Helleson to score in the opening ten minutes of the match, and the Finn’s power taps were no longer blocked.
He scored his fifth power point of the match in 57:52 when he loaded the puck into the empty Boston goal.
Especially the final set was about Granlund’s performance: he scored three points in the last 20 minutes.
Granlund has never before scored five power points in a game in the NHL.
Although the match is Granlud’s celebration, the Finns at the other end are hardly enjoying themselves in the same way.
Saved by the Bruins’ goal Joonas Korpisalo had to dig the puck six times behind his back. Defender Henri Jokiharju scored one goal and played excellently in light of the advanced statistics, but this time it did not inflate the team’s score column.
