Sandro Wagner is an emotional coach on the sidelines. That has already earned him three yellow cards in the first seven games of the season. The ex-professional is now even contacting the DFB.

Three yellow cards in just seven games – Sandro Wagner is under special observation as coach of FC Augsburg early in the season. The 37-year-old has therefore already contacted the German Football Association. In particular, the warning in the 1-1 draw against Cologne seems to have caused him a lack of understanding.

Referee Timo Gerach warned Wagner in the second half for complaining. It was the third yellow card for the FCA coach. Another would result in a game ban.

“If you know me, then you already know that I like to understand things in all their complexity. I couldn’t do that,” he reported and revealed: “That’s why I’ve already spoken to one or two people at the DFB on the phone and I’m smarter now.” Wagner did not describe any details about the discussions, but added once again, looking back on the warning from Cologne: “Everyone can judge for themselves whether it was a yellow card or not.”

On Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) FC Augsburg will face RB Leipzig. Wagner will still have to do without captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw against the second-place team. The central defender continues to struggle with knee problems. Despite several attempts in the past few weeks, there hasn’t been enough for a comeback.
