Thomas Müller is excited before the start of the playoffs in the North American Major League Soccer.
“I was open to a lot of things,” said the 2014 World Cup winner, who moved from FC Bayern Munich to the Vancouver Whitecaps after his contract expired. “But I didn’t expect that I would make such a good choice.”
He has been in Canada since mid-August and “the trip was sensational – for me, for the team, for the fans. But my work is not done yet,” said the 36-year-old.
With the Whitecaps, Müller had a dream start with seven goals and three assists in seven MLS games. Now he and his new club will face FC Dallas in the first round of the playoffs on Monday night. The team that wins two games in the series advances.
Immediately a difference player
“We’re in the playoffs now, I don’t care about the future. Just about winning a big thing,” said Müller, who immediately became a difference player.
Coach Jesper Sörensen also thinks highly of the former national player. “It’s really great for the coaching team and me to have a player like Thomas here,” said the Dane. “He’s definitely given something back to us since he came and he’s a champion off the pitch too – that’s what makes him special.”
