René van der Gijp states that there is once again an icy atmosphere behind the scenes of Today Inside. There is no longer any fun between him and his two colleagues, he reveals.
It has now been almost a year since Johan Derksen walked away live from the broadcast of Today Inside. The VI mustache was annoyed by Wilfred Genee, who was not only constantly promoting his song, but also constantly teasing him with the list of topics that he always submits before each broadcast of the talk show on SBS 6.
‘We don’t talk’
In the end things turned out well, but now – a year later – there is once again an icy atmosphere behind the scenes of VI. According to René van der Gijp, there is an act during the live broadcast: the men interact amicably with each other on TV, but that is only for the stage.
However, there is no longer any chemistry behind the scenes, says René in his podcast. “If we just do our thing, it’s just a great program, but it’s the same now… Johan is in his dressing room, Wilfred too… We don’t talk to each other at all anymore. We no longer talk to each other outside that table.”
‘It was fun’
It has not always been this way, René emphasizes. He says to Wim Kieft: “Do you know how nice it was when we sat at that table? Then you came in and we talked about the weekend. Then we sat at that table while walking and talking, that was nice, but it has now become something that I think: it is not necessary.”
The viewer notices nothing of the icy relations between the gentlemen. “No, you don’t notice it, but it’s not necessary.”
