The Nerazzurri coach spoke like this after the victory against Saint Gilloise: “They were good at putting last year’s disappointments behind them and starting again”

Christian Chivu laughs happily and satisfied. Against Saint Gilloise he recorded the seventh victory in a row in the championship and cups: a 4-0 which gives even more confidence in view of the match against Napoli next Saturday. “We needed to put what happened last year behind us – said the coach after the match -, sometimes bitterness plays tricks on us. But they did well”.

desire to improve further

And again: “These guys have the fire inside them and the desire to work. We want to have another season at the top.” Esposito chapter: the Italian scored his first goal in the Champions League: “Young people should be given a chance, their identity cards shouldn’t be looked at. You need to throw them in and see what they’re made of. Personality, character, spirit of sacrifice, work culture. The credit goes to the kids because they still believe in it and accept that they can be coached, that they can leave their ego aside.” Fabio Capello, from the Sky Sport studios, complimented Chivu. The two were together at Roma twenty years ago, when Christian was at the beginning of his career: “I hope to have half the career of what Capello did, a top player. If I played at a high level, the credit is also his. Now I coach a fantastic group, they are high-level profiles. Saturday in Naples? When you win a match you have to enjoy it and not think about the next one. Winning is never a given.”
