Eintracht Frankfurt reacts to Kauã Santos’ goalkeeping mistakes and the many goals conceded in the last few games. There will be someone else in goal against Liverpool.

The change in goal is a reaction to several of the Brazilian’s insecurities. Since his return from a torn cruciate ligament, the 22-year-old has conceded 18 goals in five games. In the 2-2 draw against SC Freiburg on Sunday, Santos also showed weaknesses in the final phase and also owed the equalizer.

Eintracht coach Toppmöller said Santos “wasn’t thrilled” with the decision. Now it’s about making a new attempt and processing what he’s experienced. Toppmöller emphasized that they didn’t want to turn it into a “hop-on-hop-off game” – Zetterer would not only be in goal against Liverpool, but also in the coming weeks.

Zetterer was signed by Werder Bremen in the summer. The background to the change was the departure of Kevin Trapp, who had joined the French first division club FC Paris.
