Twenty-two pigs fell through a floor in a pigsty at a farm on Belvertsestraat in Haaren on Monday morning. The floor had partly collapsed and the pigs ended up in a pit. The fire brigade arrived on site with approximately twelve units to save the animals.
The farmer discovered around half past seven in the morning that part of the floor had collapsed. This also caused a wall to collapse. The pigs ended up in the well. For the fire brigade it is a huge operation to save the animals. A special team from the fire brigade for collapses arrived on the scene.
The first pigs were rescued around one o’clock in the afternoon, washed and put in another stable. The fire brigade expects to be working on the pigs for hours. There is nothing wrong with the animals.
According to the fire brigade, it is a neat environment with all facilities for the animals. It is not yet clear how the collapse could have happened, which is still being investigated.
