It must be a huge pain point for Arjen Lubach that no one is talking about him or his program in the run-up to the elections. That used to be different. “Would I just stay at RTL?”
There is increasing speculation about the future of Arjen Lubach at family channel RTL 4. Not only are its viewing figures disappointing and it does not fit in well with the rest of the programming – which does not improve viewing – but it also simply has much less impact. Even now, in the run-up to the House of Representatives elections.
‘RTL again?’
The marriage between Arjen and the commercial people does not seem to last very long. There is already open speculation as to whether he should simply move to the time slot after the late talk show of RTL 4. In other words: a harsh demotion. And that for the man who until recently was a great success on the country’s largest TV channel NPO 1.
A man in Arjen’s studio audience asks himself question and answer section from his YouTube channel whether the presenter intends to stay with RTL. “RTL again next year?”
“What are you saying?”
Arjen loses his apropos. “What are you saying? My contract says so, so I hope so! Hahaha.”
The man in the audience: “How long are you going to keep going?”
Arjen then tries to turn it into a joke: “Are you from the NPO or what are you doing? ‘Hello, I’m from the VPRO? RTL AGAIN NEXT YEAR?’”
‘A few years’
If all goes well, the late evening of RTL 4 will remain his domain for the time being, according to Arjen. “Ehh, yes, we will continue for a few more years anyway and things are going really well and we are happy, so I hope you like it too.”
The man: “Yes, I quite like it.”
Arjen: “Then RTL again next year.”
